Project Description:
In early 2000, a portion of the North Warning Site PIN-3, Lady Franklin Point, NU burned down. Following the fire there was a clean-up on-site, but some bulk fuel storage tanks and materials were left on-site. This material is now to be prepared to be removed from the site. RCL is planning to reposition four of the bulk fuel tanks on-site to the beaching area for removal and to complete an inventory of the materials on-site. The bulk fuel storage tanks are empty and will be prepared for transport (i.e. vents sealed, etc.). The tanks will be moved on roads and gravel pads to the beach location. RCL is planning to return staff to Cambridge Bay at the end of the working day (i.e., no camp will be set up). No discharges are expected during this activity.

Potential Environmental Impact: The bull dozer could damage local plant life. Mitigation: The bull dozer use will be limited to roads and gravel pads. Potential Environmental Impact: Fuel could be spilled when refilling the bull dozer. Mitigation: The dozer will either be refueled using a drip tray or in the garage, so that any spilled fuel will not enter the environment. No wastes are expected to be generated during this activity.
