Project Description:
Agnico Eagle Mines Limited (Agnico Eagle) possesses mineral properties located on Crown and Inuit Owned Land in the area located between 20km to 70km of the Whale Cove community. The exploration activities planned on these properties include drilling, prospection and geophysical surveys.
Summary of Modifications:
The present application is neeeded to amend the various authorizations to add/modify parts of the winter access location. The objective of this modification is mainly to avoid areas where ice thickness could be problematic in winter. The locations of this modification were determined during an aerial survey with the help of a Whale Cove’s elder. No other change to the initial project is requested. The conformity determination 148647 included the winter access labelled “winter access authorized” on the map presented in the main application document. In the application to obtain the conformity determination 148849 it was stated that this winter access would also be used to access new exploration areas proposed in this determination. The present application is to modify the location of the winter access to ensure to pass on lakes and rivers where the ice will be thick enough during the winter.
