Project Description:
The current power plant in Kugluktuk has reached the end of its life so QEC plans to rebuild a new plant with better capacity, cleaner technology and quieter operation. The project has two lots assigned by the Commissioner next to the PPD tank farm in an industrial area Northwest of the town. The project will consist of a power house with an integrated office and lines shop. There will be a fuel system connected to the PPD tank farm consisting of a 2,000,000 L bulk fuel storage tank and day tanks within the power house. Separately funded but integrated with the power system will be a solar array to supplement the diesel generating station.
