Project Description:
This submission is purely for the purpose of carrying out a renewal of the Water Use Licence. Licence number 2BE-COP1416. The Coppermine Project is located in the Kitikmeot region of Nunavut, southwest of the Hamlet of Kugluktuk. The area contains numerous volcanic and sedimentary-rock hosted copper showings. Tundra Copper is exploring the potential for stratiform copper along the base of the Neoproterozoic Rae Group sedimentary rocks west of the Coppermine River along a roughly 80km strike length. The target is very gently north-dipping dark shale and siltstone overlying red beds and basalt of the Copper River Group, a setting analogous to important copper-producing districts such as the Central African Copperbelt, the Polish Kupferschiefer, and the Keweenaw district, Michigan.

Waste and Impacts
Environmental Impacts
All hazardous waste will be properly stored at site in sealed containers stored in lined berms until it is flown out from the site for proper treatment and disposal. Paper and cardboard will be burned on site in an incinerator. Food and other non-combustible waste will be flown out from site for proper treatment and disposal. Greywater from camp will percolate into ground from sumps. Drill cuttings from drilling operations will be buried in sumps
Waste Management
Waste Type Quantity Generated Treatement Method Disposal Method
Sewage (human waste) 0.005 m3/day Flown out from site for proper treatment and disposal in Yellowknife Sealed container.
Greywater 0.5 m3/day Grease traps Settle in sump
Combustible wastes 0.15 m3/day burned in incinerator paper/cardboard burned
Non-Combustible wastes 0.15 m3/day . Flown out from site
Overburden (organic soil, waste material, tailings) 0.1 m3/day Material dug out of sumps will be backfilled when use of sump is completed. Organic soil will be set aside and returned after disturbance is completed. Backfill
Hazardous waste 0.002 m3 per 30days stored on site in sealed containers in lined berms until removed from site flown out from site for proper treatment and disposal
