A fuel spill occurred at the Grise Fiord power plant in March 2018. QEC plans to build a landfarm of sufficient size to hold the contaminated soil resulting from the spill and remediate the soil over a period of 3 to 5 years. The landfarm will be engineered to last and to benefit the community by providing a protective space to shield hazardous soils from the environment.
